Paul O’Shea,
owner and founder of Top Notch Homes Inc, started working
in the carpentry field as a child with his father while
growing up in Orland Park. While in high school, Paul
continued in the field by
working as a laborer for a custom builder in the Southwest
Suburbs, where he was fortunate enough to learn from the true old world
craftsmen.
Learning at an early age that doing things
right the first time wasn’t difficult and didn’t take
anymore time became a life long philosophy for Paul. He continued to work for builders until 1986
when he started his own company, Top Notch
Carpentry Construction.
"Top
Notch Carpentry was a name that came
naturally to me," said Paul.
"During my early career, my clients
and associates would always say
'Paul, that work is top notch' and
my own business was born."
Top
Notch Carpentry concentrated mostly
on finish carpentry, interior doors, crown moulding, window
trim, wainscoting, cabinetry, etc
for custom built homes. After working on other
builders’ homes, Paul branched out again to purchase a homesite and
build his first custom home, which sold quickly and led to
more custom homes and the new company name, Top Notch Homes
Inc.
Since then,
Paul, who is personally involved in
the construction of each home with
close attention to every detail, has
decided to only build between five to
ten beautiful quality custom homes a year in the Southwest
Suburbs. "Carpenters build the best houses," Paul
says. "I want to provide the
best quality 'top notch' custom home
for a reasonable price."
